Hi all, I was out last Tuesday in that stinking hot heat on the little red bomb, outside temperature gauge read 30c by the time I got home and I just put the bike straight into the garage cos it had boiled me spuds and I was dying to get my leathers off! Got it out again last Thursday to go for a ride and upon starting it , the engine warning light just stayed on and there was a triangular warning symbol above the race mode that I’d never seen before?? Anyone got any ideas about what’s happened? I’m just wondering if it’s the MAP sensor?? Does anyone know any Ducati independents in my area ( County Durham) that could have a look at it sharpish? I tried to ring Vertu at Sunderland,….what an utter farce! Would only let you leave a message on an answering machine, tried twice yesterday and once today, only got 3 text messages for my trouble and a call from the service manager last night saying they were having issues with the phone system and someone would call me today, well they didn’t, so I thought I’d try the sales team, they might be keener to answer, sure enough I got hold of someone, explained the situation and he got someone to call me back,…..yes I can get you booked in for a diagnostic check,…6 weeks time okay !! He reckons even if you wanted a tyre fitting,..they can’t touch anything for 6 weeks, like wtf !! So hence the fact I’m looking for any ideas on the fault, and / or an independent to look at it Thanks in advance guys
Probably worth popping a message in the OBDStar Users thread https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/obdstar-users.98340/
i had this when my stator failed i wouldn't ride it far as mine kept cutting out. im in south shields you can borrow my laptop with melcodiag software if you can get through if not i could come to you but it would be thursday as i'm working late tonight.
Thanks so much for the offer Jase, I’m gonna have a word with Ducati Leeds today, I’ll get back to you once I see what they have to say, cheers
@jase just an update for you, a mate of a mate has two Ducati’s, he has the melcodiag software as well, I’m nipping down to see him tonight to see if we can diagnose the problem. Will keep you posted, thanks again for your offer of help
On a slight side issue I've had the same trouble with Ducati Sunderland. Just wanted a price for tyres and a date for fitting. Rang repeatedly, the service department never answer the phone or return calls. Eventually got through to someone who gave me a very steep price but no fitting date. They would ring me back, they said. They didn't. Still waiting a week later, I rang and went through sales to try and get someone to talk to me. They had no record of my previous conversation nor the price I was quoted. They said they would ring me back. I said don't bother and have since found National Bike Tyres at Newton Aycliffe. Booked in for Tuesday on a ride in/ride out price that's £115 cheaper than Vertu. Doesn't help you with your diagnostics, but at least you're not the only one. Unfortunately I don't think an independent will help because I suspect they will need access to Ducati software. The only indie we had left, M&S in Westgate Road, have closed so your nearest dealer now if Sunderland can't help you will be Leeds. I wish Nelly was a little closer..! Edit: You could try VTS at Consett. He does work on all Italian V twins. Whether he'll have the necessary diagnostics I don't know. VTS - Bing Maps
M&S told me they dont have ducati diagnostics which was clearly a lie as norman who has worked there for years came to mine to fix the bike and told me they do
