I,take it that this is a sound place to purchase from and all cables are supplied. 1299s where is my diagnostic plug?. Thanks .
I would say that yes, it is. You might pay a bit more but pre and after sales service from Rob is, worth it IMHO. If he has stock you'll get it quicker and also avoid the possibility of paying import duty, shipping and then VAT on top. I believe that he now includes the later Euro5 cable as well as the less recent ducati cable and the even older two pin cable. The latter requires jump leads to the battery which are, I think, still included too. When I bought mine the Euro5 cable wasn't included but I got one from Amazon for about £10 IIRC. Used it yesterday on a members V4 Multi, enabled the spot lights and did a diagnostics scan and reset. Out of interest; the spotlight enabling required an Internet connection, a new one on me, hot-spotted via my phone and it worked. My update subscription has expired which answers @Spassa84's earlier question.
It didn't say, so no real idea. Wouldn't proceed further without it though. Haven't envountered this on any of the times I've used this on my or anyone we else's bike. First time I've connected to a more recent Ducati using the Euro5 connector, so something required on later bikes as per @Spassa84's experience.
Shame that BM Diag have stopped supplying the OBDStar. hopefully they still provide product support. This looks like a similar though, worth checking ahead of purchase that, like the OBDStar, the unit will still function without a current subscription.
One can only assume they got fed up with OBDStar selling direct from China at prices that undercut the RRP, can’t say I blame them.
You're likely correct that BMDiag got fed up with being constantly undercut. Though it should be noted that whilst obdstar.co.uk is owned and run from Shanghai the website is owned and run by a UK registered company Telos Trading Ltd. Its CEO has a Shanghai address and operations run from there. The company is not owned and run by OBDStar themselves, though it claims to just be an authorised dealer. On the surface it looks very much like it is run by ODBStar themselves, the owner does little to inform you otherwise... I think them being able to run this under a .co.uk domain isn't exactly cricket... Nominet, the UK domain registry provider, should take a leaf out of their French counterparts. Proof of French origin is required to register a .fr domain. Let alone Companies House allowing the registration of, what is effectively, a shell to be used this way.
is there anyone near me ( Sedgefield, Stockton area) who can help me with my problem below? - https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/need-diagnostic-machine-quick.106167/ I would really appreciate it if someone could just scan it and confirm if it’s a MAP sensor or not? I would like to buy one of these scanners anyway but wouldn’t have a clue how to use it as I’m the original Luddite! Any help appreciated guys as Vertu are saying 6 weeks before they can look at it, thanks
Is there anyone in the Bristol area that can help out with a possible error code on a new DesertX. I think the ECU has locked out the USB circuit from a possible short (I will nether confirm or deny if I cause this momentary short). Fuzes checked and are all fine. Not sure if the unit will be able to change any settings on a new bike but it should be able to read codes. Anyone willing to help?
