Would these fit? Bought them to go on a M750 but the calipers won't fit. Don't want to go to the expense of new calipers really (the onesie the pic aren't mine). £250 same as I paid on UKMOC cheers Harry
Those are fully adjustable Showas from the earlier carbed SS's as Bradders says. If you can live with the smaller caliper bolt spacing they are perfectly OK.........Not much wrong with the narrower spaced calipers if they are in good nick........They would still have you off in a panic braking situation.
just means new calipers and front spindle plus drop the front a little potentially, bit of hassle and extra cost
All of this is doable, if need be. To start with though, I just want to see if I can sort the bike with minimal effort/cost. I know - shocker!
And Mark from @MADASL Racing to the rescue. Again. A very satisfactory set of Showa forks from an ST2 at a very reasonable price. Included with the forks were cups of tea and possibly the finest egg & bacon sandwich I have ever had. What a great day
I've done this to my 620 ss dd race bike. Put some 748 sps forks in it the only thing that needed changing was the fork stantions - which were the oem ones. I did however put the adjuster on the top of the forks - I think from a 900 ss but not 100 % then sent them to Maxton for re shimming, new values, springs and seals. Huge difference and worth the effort.
I'm on Plan B for the forks. Swapped the shorter ST2 forks for a very nice adjustable pair of Showas from a 750/900SSie. The bike is handling better than ever. Still ... Maxtons or K-Tech are always an option for future tweaking.
Anyone wanting to upgrade the internals of SSie forks as described in this months Performance Bikes, I have some 750 K5 internals going spare.
Anyone wanting a pair of 2005 s2r Showa forks. I have the forks and triple clamps for sale. Missed the boat on this one!!!!
Sorry. A bit vague there. I've got a set of the oem 620 ss forks but without the stations on them. I changed a set of 748 forks and put them in the oem 620 tubes so they would still fit in the original unmodified yokes.
