Unfortunately I don't remember the ID of the fuel line but it's 6 or 8mm. The OD does not really matter. I don't see any added benefits for using braided lines.

The only reason i'm looking at a braided line is that I'm concerned that the fuel lines are in close proximity to the valve cover and there's some evidence on the existing line of heat damage.

Braided lines will scrape the paint off your valve covers. You can wrap the lines with some foil tape.

Also, Are Oetiker clamps better than jubilee clips? I'm thinking particularly about the logistics of a field fix.

Definitely only use Oetiker ear clamps, jubilee clips don't provide equal clamping force.
