The video on you tube soaks the O rings in different cleaners, parafin and petrol are the only 2 the swell the O rings and make them soft.
There is a video on you tude testing different cleaners. A good watch. But petrol or parafin are a no no.

Take the wire off the sender and put to earth. This will tell u if its a guage or sender problem. With ignition on of course.
