I had the same problem on my DVT, and this is my solution. It's an exhaust guard from, I think, at 748 or similar, and modified to suit the space....

If using an impact gun you need an impact resistant socket, which is beefy and heavy. If you use a 'normal' socket it is likely to crack.
As a tip for re-tightening the nut, make a paint mark on the nut and the spindle before you undo it. Not many of us have a torque wrench capable...
An impact driver should certainly undo it, maybe you have to persist a bit longer. Can you heat the nut? That may help. The dealer would have used...
