The compression adjuster on front forks is normally the screw adjuster at the bottom of the forks....sounds like you've adjusted the front preload...

Fatducs made a noticeable difference to mine - my other half even mentioned it
Never use mine to be honest as I heard they can be a bit unreliable...
Search Google for 'beck berger' not cheap mind and a bit of a mare of a job if you're doing it yourself...

My mates just done his - he said it was a pig of a job - hardly any room to get the front sprocket off - easier to get the new one on as it's smaller!
I also wonder whether a better after market gear shifter would improve matters....
Obviously not SMC then as they claim never to have heard of this problem - mines going in there this Friday....
