Connected to the DIN socket should be ok. It's switched, so only on when ignition on.
Just a generic voltmeter with USB, dead cheap from Ebay. [ATTACH] I spliced it into the DIN socket on the right side panel.

My Monster S4 had Termi's stamped, 'For Race Use Only' but would pass every time. The old guy must've been a bit blind and deaf, which helped......
