I just whacked some grease into the open connector or you could use dylectric grease that should stop any corrosion on the pins in the plug.

Looks like the ignition coil packs are on the right hand side of the bike behind the side cover bodywork.
I’m guessing the shifter logic would be cutting the ignition to unload the gearbox to allow shifting, you would need to locate the coil pack...
