I can tolerate one bad looking part on a bike, but the 999 has two major ones IMHO. The front lights look terrible, and so does the swingarm....
As I live in the area I'll probably be out and about riding around. Not sure whether I'll go onto the sea front though, not very much fun riding...
Like a lot of stolen, high value vehicles, those bikes will probably be 'exported' to countries that have less stringent vehicle controls.
I definitely agree that disk locks are worth having, I just believe they need to be used in conjunction with a number of other visible types of...
Unfortunately you can't get away from the fact that most bikes are easy to lift into a van, or to attack with tools including battery powered...
Went out for a blast today. Only needed to add a little coolant afterwards and no leaks even when running hot through town. I'm happy.
I bought a cheap vac for £40 from Screwfix, for the money it has been fab. Sucks and blows (great for blow drying bikes), also sucks wet stuff....
I'm just waiting for a bit from Ducati and then I will fire it up and see how the coolant level goes.
Unfortunately I didn't measure what came out. I did catch it all in a bucket but then used de-ironized water a couple of times to flush the system...
I'd be surprised if much, if any, water was left in the system. After removing all the hoses I tilted the bike back and forth until no more drips...

Thanks, I'll give it a try. My reticence about running the engine was the possibility of the air being in and around the vertical cylinder head....
Am I the only one that washes their bike with WD40, GT85 and furniture polish?
Just installed some Samco hoses and added my Motul Motocool coolant. Managed to get 2.8 litres in before filling up the expansion bottle....
I spend a lot of time in the USA and over there they have great anti-thieving-scum devices called Glocks. We should have the same over here.
Definitely prefer white boards, but they have to be finished with the gold pin stripes and a gold 'Ducati' on the nose.
If I minded I wouldn't have owned my bike for 19 years, now would I!? :grinning:

Good point, and no I didn't. I suppose there are some connoisseurs out there who would pay a premium for such things so it wouldn't have surprised...
