Wash in Nikwax wash, or use liquid soap flakes as a cheaper alternative. Give it an extra rinse, then use Nikwax TX spray on and allow to dry.

Metzeler 01s on my Monster 1200 and I'm very happy with them.
About 3800 on my 1200. Replaced with Metzeler Roadtec 01s, which are great so far.
+1, or stop if necessary on a narrow road. We're both in the more vulnerable groups of road users, so why antagonise each other or put each other...
That's actually what I was planning to go for next. I've liked Metzeler on previous bikes, and grip in wet and cold conditions is more important...
