Yeah, I didn't understand that either.
The problem is with the exhaust gases. The can has to be long enough to keep them away from the pannier, to avoid overheating.
The Works is 30mm longer than the Indy, which should make it better for the panniers.

There'd be some irony there - buying a cat D for the dash. There's a rumour you could scratch a DVT dash by blinking too hard near it. :)

I couldn't extract it by hand, but used a screwdriver to unlatch the locking mechanism and pliers to pull the plug. Awkward bugger though. :)
