I had similar on my Multi 1100, it was a sensor with a cracked body which got oil into the internals, which gave similar syptoms

QB Carbon do not do a good front mudguard for the SS, I had three from them and they were all touching the tyre at the back. They blamed the mould.

Don't recognise it, I would replace with a Brembo one. I prefer the ones with a remote reservoir. Most are rebuildable with readily available...
KTM Dukes of the era had similar I think. Better with a later remote reservoir master imo
When you test the charging voltage as suggested, get the revs up to about 3000. Its should be over 14volts across the battery.
