Hi Chris, I've found that 3.5-4.00 works fine on stock silencers and 4.00-4.5 for less restrictive, all taken at OEM points.
Check your old steels as well, as someone may have fitted some thinner one's and you can juggle those to get the correct stack height (watch out...

I once had a similar fault and it was the TPS not reading correctly (going to zero) as you opened the throttle.
This was a shock swap, obviously with just the ride height adjuster you don't have to go this far but it might give you an idea. [IMG] [IMG]
The one I use if it's a tight one is similar to this, it has a thin band which allows you to get on the filter and has never failed me...

If the spindle is still stuck try and get the bike near a wall or something solid and then a spacer (old fork tube etc) to go between the frame...
I've known the TPS fail at certain throttle openings, be worth checking it.
The cluch assy may have fallen off, this can stop the engine turning. Take the clutch cover off and have a look.

When I fitted these I could do away with the extra diodes etc, they were all I needed. Cost something like £8.00 with postage.
