It has engine braking control, which “should” temper your down shifting, but it isn’t great. It’s not CBR600rr levels of skipping if you go down...
I think the only benefit I would want from the 959 over the 899 is the slipper clutch. But that can be remedied....

Obviously being in an upgrade situation, you are in a better place dealing with dealers, then if you were just trying to sell.
I think a problem with second hand bikes like high end Ducatis is the relative cost. I.e. not many folk have £15k ready to shell out on a bike...
