My go to for difficult brake dust is acid based toilet cleaning gel. Cheap supermarket own brand. Turns baked on dust green which then washes off....

It’s about the prints becoming permanently etched onto the chrome because of the high heat.
Make sure you clean any greasy fingerprints off the chrome before running exhaust gasses through them.
Copper slip is better for long term lubrication.
But not Pink!!
And don’t try it in the teenage son’s room!!!!
Buy a UV light to be sure...

Are the two wires into the connector circled in red the same colours? They look Brown/White. If so they probably need linking.
