They have another option for that it seems. The indicator only version only seems to provide indicator function as you'd expect.

The indicator only option doesn't have brake light of course but still needs 3-wires. The brake light / rear light / indicator has 5 wires.
I've checked the wiring for the indicators and they are do seem to need a switched live. Probably be able to find one under the seat - maybe...
