Used mine to remove the alternator nut the other week, it's not pretty and not a brand name but it gets the job done.

Before you go buying new parts check and clean all connections from the alternator through the regulator to the battery.

The brushes was the easy part, ended up having to drill out 4 bolts to get it out.
Fixed, fitted a 600 flywheel while I had it apart. Need some good weather for a test run but starts well.
Definitely getting good power to the starter. Just put a brush kit into a spare starter. Off to the garage.
Brush kit arrived today, spanner time soon ;-)
