Yeah I think the exhaust is no quieter than the 899 it's just the 959 positions the sound away from the centre of the bike where the noise test is...
Bike had its first service and the tech removed it for me while he was on - it's only Velcro holding it on I'm sure I read before there was a few...
They don't do noise tests at MOT yet so as long as the cat is retained they shouldn't be a problem
I've seen one on eBay for £1100 I bet it they had them in stock you could get it much cheaper though as I can't see them selling many
