8 hours probably has some contingency built in - yes it’s easy enough to strip down but probably need the tank off to get to the throttle body ....
I was sure a 17mm hex bit was the size, but you’re pic makes me doubt that - is that a 3/4” drive socket? Try a 17mm nut or bolt to see if that fits
