So I took the chance and drove the spacer out from the inside, it popped out, then I drove the other side out, the whole sprocket carrier comes...
There is no contact to the bearing, I think I saw a pic where a snap ring was present under the dust cover, but I did not screenshot it:...

So I popped the wheel off today, the bearings are large enough to accommodate the 749 axle, I will just need to get the spacers out for machining....
