Surely a relay won't switch the feed off if it's wired direct to the battery, as the power will be constant.
If it were me, I'd get some water wetter or preferably the cheaper Motul equivalent.
Far more time consuming than dismantling the clutch. I can strip the clutch in a few minutes.

If it's switched off but connected, the rechargeable battery would still take current, I'm sure but very little.
