I think you should get a wiring diagram. The fuel pump/relay power doesn't go anywhere near the dash, nor the tail light.
And you need 2 of them, one for each cylinder.
It has been known for the wiring in the fuel pump flange to break down where they go through the gland.
It is a sealed unit, but they pry apart quite easily and stick back together very well with polystyrene cement
