Indeed, a 12v battery is a 12v battery so, no matter how big (AH) it is, it will be fine. Car engine running might cause problems though.

Quite possibly but the seat pad should be the same and so fit the older seat/subframe, minus the brackets of course.
IIRC later bikes had the extra brackets to help secure the seat. I think because the older, no bracket seat, was more likely to detach if the bike...
