Have a look at the foldable mud flap around the bottom yoke. If not fitted right, they can rub on the air duct covers.

Google atr or have a look at the weave on a std 996/8R then compare it with what you have. And if you’re lucky enough, you may still find the...
ATR is a brand of carbon fibre. All the carbon on the 996R should be ATR and I think the 998R used them too. They have a very distinctive weave...

As soon as the 4 bolts are out of the plastic cover, covering the dash, it all gets easier! You might need a magnetic tip to get the lower two...
