Perhaps a provocative post, but I always felt the 916 iterations looked better with 5 spokes. The 3 spokes seem so "of their time" :thinkingface:
Surprised no one has posted on this, I maybe wrong, but I always thought that 1999 was the 3 spoke gold wheels and gold frame and 2000-2001 was 5...

It could be that the checkered pattern is made of stickers...so it would only need the wheels repainting...keep the screen as a statement ;)
I think size has a lot to do with it (oo er). That 2k trip was on my 996 which I find comfier than the 999. I'm a reasonably lithe 5'10..
