if hand lever is reaching the handlebars, then as said, it's wrong, – the system either needs an additional bleed or maybe you have an adjustable...
The whole reason that the Oberon slave reduces effort in most fitments is because it produces a slightly longer throw at the lever, (as you know)...
hard to diagnose remotely, but it doesn't sound right, as no combination of piston sizes at slave and master should result in the handlever...
