I think Toine van den Biggelaar did a Panigale electrics swap over to a 998 racebike ( the punisher bike), so might be a contact worth making
the 1299 has tire size calibration in the settings, so you should be able to correct an issue there ( hopefully)
this is the ideal mod for a 1199 track bike as well, its would be interesting to see if you can get the Evo Update ?

over on the Mainland (EU) the 1299 prices seem to still be very strong, 19,900 Euros for a 1299 s with Akrapovic system and a few trinkets ( 6tkm)...
I wouldn't over think it to much.. as there is no oil to carry particulate created during wear, to the filter, then if you don't create a passage...
