Not ridden a 996 but I do have experience of 748,916 and 998.The 916 is a much less frantic engine than the 748 but still a very enjoyable ride....
470four, no def. not done that, not on three different bikes. Arquebus, I'm sure there's no foreign matter on the mating face but it's coming off...
On the subject of "DIY" does anyone have a 998 manual or tech details for valve clearances? Apologies for hijacking the thread.
Yet again my oil filter has started leaking. For some reason every time I change the oil filter on any of my bikes they leak and steadily drip...
900ss bevel - I was offered one for £2500 about 6 years ago and stopped to think about it for 24hrs and of course it was sold, never get over that...
I can recommend the Yuasa as fitted to late model 748. Mine is 10 years old next month and still going strong, never given any trouble at all and...

Cheers Mark but only fitting the seals over the top of the guides not actually fitting new guides into the heads. They should just push on surely?
