59M or 5AM does not matter. I have the fly lead type fitted to my 59M equipped 999. Same coil just with a fly lead incorporated.
Yes, later coils can be used on earlier bikes. Gets the front coil connector out of the weather.
The coils were changed on later bikes to include a fly lead instead of the loom plugging straight into the coil.
