I will have the same problem when I deal with the front end of my project, I think the best route would be, getting one of the remote brake...
I took mine apart recently, it is just pulling on a cable much like a brake lever, shouldn't be too hard to rig something up on the bar.
Its a passive key I think, the antenna is located in the key barrel cover and passes through to the dash.
Wow! Brings back memories, that was the first vehicle I ever made a 3d model of. Glad it has faded into the aether, as it most likely didn't age...
