No. They're polyester. Most of the time blowing them out with an airline is enough. Iirc, they can be washed and dried but no need for oil

Mark ya cam wheels against a reference on the motor before you remove the belts. There's no timing marks on them or the covers on 848.

It's not fused. The main power leads are direct from battery to solenoid to starter. The switching connection you are reconnecting is very low...
Contact adhesive. Evostick or similar. Gives a dwell time (not long though) to get it positioned and helps slide the drip on a little.
BUMP.... cleared it out over the holidays and found a repair is needed on some rust on OS outer sill. Not structural, but doesn't look it's best....
