Try the fuel pump relay located behind the battery box. These are located in a very poor location and cause all sorts of strange issues.
Get an EPROM tool to remove the chip. Makes life easier. Out of interest, why are you removing the chip?

I believe you may need some spacers under the seat catch. Very easy to do.
