Why not take off your new carrier and measure the assembly on a bench and compare to the original set up?
I reckon it’s the clutch slave leaking and washing out the chain gloop to form what appears to be an oil leak.
I have one of these (on a 749) - available in two diameter ranges, don’t see why one wouldn’t fit a 9*6...
