Do it properly - get the tyre removed and fit a whole new valve. Sorted.
The shock has spherical bearings at upper/lower attachments so can move around that axis.
Just checked my 749 workshop manual - it appears that the nut is only 270Nm. My confusion was with the 1098 which is 330Nm.
You’ll need a flywheel holding tool and a torque wrench that goes up to 300+ Nm (can’t remember the exact figure). Get a new retaining nut too.

I have those brakes on my 1098R. As above, with an RCS master cylinder and Performance Friction 95 compound pads it’s all the braking I need.
Are you dealing with an Australian insurance company? If so, the rules may be different to UK.
