M8 for a bolt means an 8mm diameter thread. The outside diameter of the bolt will thus be approx 8mm. For a nut, M8 is the internal thread...

I would deffo replace the brake hoses if they are also 23 years old - not only from an aesthetic perspective but primarily to improve...
Those brakeline fittings have seen much better days. I would be getting new hoses if it were me.
Washers are your friend here...just bung in a few and see if it works.
Mine wasn’t a real SPS - it was a 996 with SPS spec engine - heads, injectors, ecu etc and Ohlins, P4 brakes, HPK discs etc.
