Due to the fasteners being in a well in the seat, I recommend using stainless screws to avoid unsightly corrosion.

Exactly. The original risers bear on the yoke directly so in a panic brake situation the overturning moment is reacted by compression on the yoke...
That brake setup may easily overwhelm the forks unless they have been upgraded internally.
How’s the increased bending moment on the bolts into the yoke in an emergency stop?
