If I were you go test ride a 1299 if you can. Unless you can afford both I'd definitely stick with the 996
To be honest no, the pani is such a good bike and yes looks amazing. But the 996 is so much more involving and in my opinion looks better.

If your picking it up from Devon I'd ride to louigi moto first and get him to check it over.
For what it's worth bud, I had my 996 engine blue printed and mapped, got it to 135 bhp , nice to have a bit more power.
