Plastex is very good for broken tabs, I’ve done a few with it. You can even recreate missing tabs with it.

If you use foam you want closed cell foam as used for marine applications not the open cell stuff that does absorb water.

Try soaking the painted screen in warm water for a day or so, it should soften the paint enough to peel it off unless they sanded it first that is.
All the ones I’ve repaired have been abs. Plastic welding works well with some repair pins to reinforce it.
Give it a light tap all the way around with a rubber mallet, helps free it off.
