Had the same problem I cleaned the terminals at the switch end and the plug halfway up the frame and its been fine since.Hope this helps.

Try Mdina Italia they sell the plate £13 I fitted one years ago works well,just remember to flip up before pulling away.
Fitted new front wheel bearings,then for some reason had to bleed the brakes as the lever had very little movement.
