The SE is a better bike than the bog standard 848 - it has better brakes and, correct me I’m wrong, an ally tank as well.
Sounds like a fairly decent bike. If the “variable traction control” is the same as on a 1098R then it’s basically useless, in my opinion.

Would it work if you got a round male connector and file a flat on it so it fits the D shaped hole?
Tap test is only really effective on very thin laminates such as used on honeycomb sandwich panels (tasty!). For monolithic structural laminates...

I have a 1098R and, while I absolutely love it as it is just stupid mental fast, I find it frustrating to ride on the road as it reaches licence...
Most any bike is good enough to be a “fast road bike” - Buy the bike you want and use as you wish.
