My mates 1098 did that , turned out it had stripped the teeth of 2nd gear and jammed up the rest of the gear box.

Yeah unfortunately mine suffered the same fate, but I only use it on track so it doesn't really matter.
They were the gold 6 pot calipers originally , not very good though, im running my 748 brembos and a brembo rcs mater cylinder. :D

Take the quick shifter off then ride it see if it still happens, quick shifters cause a lot of gear box problems on the 848/1098/1198 type bikes ,...
