I know it's not a 1299 but it's a remap and race cans on an 1199. Bottom end is better and less jerky. I would assume a 1299 could get much better...

Maybe it's been off before and someone put loctite on the splines. As stated earlier it should just slide off the splines once the nut is removed.
Be careful with mucoff as I have noticed it can attack plated surfaces.
