748 with 14 tooth front sprocket? Long time ago on a bike I owned I changed the rear sprocket to 41 teeth. 2.92 ratio , it worked quite well....

As said above check all electrical connections. Even the battery. They can do strange things with H/R's . Dirty connections etc. Take it from there.

Sorry to be cynical , if you unplug the connector to the oil pressure switch. Then see if oil light comes on? Proves switch is working.
