It's worth checking the gear selector arm is adjusted correctly. Even a couple of mm off "perfect" can bugger the shift action.
1098 is valve clearances very 7500.... the 11 degree motors, MTS and Diavel are 15k. Probably won't need adjusting at 7500, but it is in the 1098...
