For road bikes a very, very thin smear of red rubber grease. Push pistons in. Pump out again. Wipe clean. Push back. Insert pads. For track I use...
Got tyres going on Friday so chance to give the hidden bits a good clean up and lube pistons. First time wheels have been off this bike....

It’s a long story but on track obviously. BST could repair the wheel at 50% of the price of a new one plus shipping. I cut my losses.
