Xylan as a coating wont cost much more...I've had 2 engines done..in fact my mates gs1000 motor was cheaper than my 525....less masking off...
All the cost is in the masking off...literally 2 thirds or more...

If I'm doing long distance I've got Krieger courier bag....usually have a hand full of tools in there...
6k on the valve clearances though....less if it does track time...

At the end of the day as much as they're not liked they tick most of the boxes... 1 Long valve clearance time ( 23k ) 2 cheap performance parts...
