Plastex is very good for broken tabs, I’ve done a few with it. You can even recreate missing tabs with it.
Ah ok, worth trying a k8 or k9 then , I found them equally good on my hands.

If you use foam you want closed cell foam as used for marine applications not the open cell stuff that does absorb water.
