I you look at the right(?) hand side of the piston it looks like the piston pin bore has torn along its centre line, but the left hand one looks...
I would put my money on a piston pin clip as well, but strange it lasted 3000 km

I feel your pain, my 996 is in bits as well plenty of track days missed. Maybe a GSXR1000 would be a better track bike:rolleyes:
