Yes but I’ve found some people get upset. Thought I was going to get punched for saying Dark Side of the Moon is boring ( sorry anyone that loves that album)

Blur.... Oasis. Now listening to The Band- Dont do It. Studio version. You have started something here lol...
In chronological order of recording, without thinking too hard: At the Jazz Band Ball - Bix Beiderbecke If I didn't Care - The Ink Spots 1939 The Song is You - Frank Sinatra 1946 Tutti Frutti - Little Richard 1957 All Summer Long - Beach Boys 1964 She Came In though The Bathroom Window - Joe Cocker 1970 At Seventeen - Janis Ian 1975 EMI - Sex Pistols 1977 Boogie Wonderland - Earth Wind & Fire 1979 Coffee & TV - Blur 1999 I don't do much after 2000 - not because I don't like it, but because I can't keep up. If I did this tomorrow, there would be 10 different songs on. I've just noticed there are no prog songs, which is my favourite genre, but most girls don't like it, which is why Janis Ian is there your daughter is 17.
Feel free to do 10 more tomorrow I’m not sure about prog rock and my daughter either, she’s not a fan of a long intro in songs, but I think she would give anything a listen and see. Before 2000 ideal - that’s what’s she’s after, stuff before she was even born.
I'd be interested to know what your daughter thinks, if she can be bothered to give it a try. Neither of my daughters ever liked my music, but I did get some stuff from them, such as Oasis (obviously older than your daughter) and Nirvana. I think gender makes a difference listening to music, but no idea why. I've been out to lunch, which helps. By the way, by the time I got to the end of the list, I was thinking "why have I not included Robert Johnson's 32-20 Blues?"
She has promised to provide feedback. She likes some of the music I like, earlier AC/DC, Led Zep, Marilyn Manson, Frank Sinatra, Jools Holland. Only genre she refuses to listen to of mine is Opera. So far she said she likes Paul Weller and a few others ( can’t remember what she said now, will ask her later). I’m getting a lot of reminders for songs I haven’t listened to for years too
Some more, older stuff.. Albert King - California Blues Arthur Conley - Funky street BB King - Im so Excited Clive and Naomi - You are Mine Freddie King - Let the Good Times Roll Lee Dorsey - Give it up Pacific Gas and Electric - Jelly Jelly Anna King - Mammas Got a Bag of Her Own Motorhead - Iron Horse Nina Simone - Sinner man Sam Cooke - Trouble Skip James - Hard Time Killing Blue Ten Years After - Religion Al Wilson- The Snake ..and a band known for prog rock, I think, not a genre normaly would gor for but this I think is a great tune, turn it up! Wishbone Ash - Blowing Free Some good stuff by Hawkwind as well...if you filtrr lol
Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I’m only about halfway through adding to my playlist so far so haven’t had a chance to listen to much yet! Some favourites so far are: Zombies - the cranberries Mother whale eyelesss - Brian Eno Laid - James Broken stones - Paul Weller Please keep the suggestions coming, they are appreciated.
Brian Eno is fabulous - try "Needles in the Camel's Eye" and "Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy". From the list of earlier likes, if you like guitar bands, how about any early Budgie. The first album is great all the way through, but possibly their best is "Napoleon Bonaparte 1 and 2" - stick with it as a long-ish song, as Shelley has a great rock voice and Tony Bourge is a very under-rated guitarist. Budgie are very well thought of as influential by a lot of later heavy bands.
Budgie were one of the first bands I saw live, I think at the Gaumont in Ipswich - they were supporting someone but I can’t remember who. Edit : Just found it on 45worlds.com. Think they were supporting Gillan.
Love a bit of Eno, esp like the 801 live album that he features on. Also, for a bit of added all round guitar genius, try listening to Tommy Bolin, one time Deep Purple lead guitarist.
^ *Longpigs hehe. Good album mind. Likes Paul Weller eh, then I vote for live version of 'But I'm Different Now' from Dig The New Breed. Maggot Brain - Funkadelic House for Sale - Muscle Shoals Swampers I am the Black Gold of The Sun - Rotary Connection Johannasburg - Gil Scott Heron I'm mainly an old soul kinda person.
